New in 2010, inquire about our river based wilderness first aid/canoeing course.  The Canoe Guru is a nationally registered EMT with a specialty in wilderness medicine.  Eli is a lead instructor for the Wilderness Medicine Institute of the National Outdoor Leadership School.

Eli is combining a 2 day WFA with a 3 day canoeing clinic in early September.  Students may choose to participate in either the entire course, or only the 2 days of wilderness medicine.  The WMI of NOLS Wilderness First Aid/WFR Recertification course is an introductory level course designed to provide outdoor leaders, guides and rangers an introduction to First Aid and patient care in remote settings. Special topics include, but are not limited to: wound management and infection, realigning fractures and dislocations, improvised splinting techniques, patient monitoring and long-term management problems, plus up-to-date information on environmental emergencies. Upon successful completion of the course a two-year WMI of NOLS Wilderness First Aid certification will be issued. All levels of training and experience are welcome.  This course will suffice as a WFR recert course for students of WMI, WMA or SOLO.

Please contact: info(at)thecanoeguru.com for details.  The wilderness medicine portion of this course will only run if at least 8 students pre-register and make their deposit by July 17th, 2010.  This 2 day WFA will cost $200 per person.  Students participating for all 5 days receive the bargain price of $500.00, otherwise normal fees apply.  Food and lodging is available for an additional charge.
