ACA OC Instructor Update

To maintain ACA certification, Instructors need to do the following every four years:

Teach two classes at their highest level of certification and report them to the ACA office.
Annually pay membership dues to the ACA and Safety, Education and Instruction Council (SEIC).
Maintain current First Aid and CPR certifications.
Attend an Instructor Update in their highest level of certification. Attending or assisting in an Instructor Development Workshop at the highest level of certification also can count as an update.

The ACA Instructor Update for Canoeing is a 2 day clinic designed to provide instructors with a forum for continuing education. This also helps ensure that ACA instructors are current with what is happening within the ACA’s Safety, Education and Instruction Council (SEIC).

The Canoe Guru offers Instructor Updates in tandem and solo canoeing at the following levels: (1.) Introduction to Canoeing, (2.) Essentials of River Canoeing, (3.) River Canoe, (4.) Whitewater Canoe

The next course currently scheduled is a Level 4: Whitewater Canoe Instructor Update held on the French Broad River near Asheville, NC on June 3rd and 4th.

There is limited enrollment for this course and it is filled on a first come, first served basis.
